13-year-old SoCal student fatally hit by suspected drunk driver on his way to school
Authorities have arrested Bradley Gene Funk, a 59-year-old resident of San Juan Capistrano, on suspicion of being involved in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 13-year-old Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco, who was struck while on his way to school in Dana Point. The crash occurred at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday as Luis and his brother were on the safety island between Park Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive. Luis sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver, who fled the scene, was later located with the help of witnesses. Funk, who has a history of DUI arrests and is currently on probation, faces charges including murder and DUI. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Traffic Bureau at (949) 425-1860.
