1 person hospitalized with severe injuries following car flipping on I-74 after hitting deer

A crash on Interstate 74 in Green Township Friday morning resulted in one person being hospitalized in serious condition, according to the Green Township Department of Fire & EMS. Emergency crews responded to the eastbound lanes of I-74 near Interstate 275 around 7 a.m. for a crash involving entrapment. The incident was triggered when a driver hit a deer, causing their vehicle to roll multiple times and end up in dense brush in the median. Authorities had to clear the brush for medics to reach the patient. The individual was extricated from the vehicle within 15 minutes and transported to the hospital. While eastbound I-74 was temporarily closed, it has since reopened, with the ramp from north I-275 to east I-74 still shut. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
