1 killed, 2 arrested in Aurora accident; Iliff and Blackhawk blocked
Unfortunately, there was a tragic incident in Aurora on Thursday afternoon resulting in one fatality and two individuals being detained and transported to the hospital following a collision at the corner of Iliff Avenue and Blackhawk Street. The Aurora Police Department reported that the crash, involving two vehicles, occurred just after 2 p.m. The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle that faced the brunt of the impact, sadly passed away at the site. Meanwhile, the two individuals in the other vehicle were taken into custody and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment, their condition currently unknown. According to an Aurora Police Department spokesperson speaking to the news outlet FOX31, an officer spotted the other vehicle purportedly exceeding the speed limit near Yale Street but couldn't intercept it in time, leading to the tragic accident at the intersection. The collision which caused the "victim vehicle" to be severely damaged and described by witnesses as "sliced in half," also involved another vehicle carrying a four-year-old child, who thankfully was unharmed during the incident. The importance of responsible driving and ensuring one's actions do not endanger others was emphasized by a police department official. Following the investigation by the police department's traffic inquiries unit, Iliff Avenue and Blackhawk Street were reopened for traffic at around 6 p.m. after being temporarily closed in the aftermath of the incident.
