1 fatality, 1 injured in accident near Sainte Genevieve
A fatal single-vehicle accident took place on Sunday morning on Interstate 55 near Sainte Genevieve, resulting in the death of one individual and injuring another. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on southbound I-55 near the 154-mile marker involving a Pontiac G5. The vehicle veered off the road and collided with a rock bluff, causing it to overturn. Sadly, the driver, a 21-year-old man from Sainte Genevieve, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car sustained serious injuries, with the driver wearing a seatbelt during the crash while the passenger did not.
